"As a local this is the New Mexico road marathon I would suggest to out-of-towners. It is a pretty scenic route but you do need to be careful with the six miles of continuous downhill (you drop 1000 feet in six miles)."

"There is spectacular scenery at this marathon in the Rocky Mountains. Bused up Sandia Peak, we run in darkness for about 7 miles, then, as the sun comes up over the mountain behind us, we turn and run 7 miles down into the illuminated valley with Albuquerque stretching below. Hot air balloons are rising all over the city. The rest of the route is flat, following the Rio Grande River into the city, ending at Old Town. Very inspirational."
