"I agree with everything said in Jennifer P's review. The bike course is pretty challenging w/ some steep hills, but it is short. The swim was great. The water at Lake Pleasant is beautiful. The run was awesome. Definitely a challenging trail run. Be ready for an unstable trail and not much pavement. Overall, the race is put together well with a great atmosphere. This is a tough course for spectators to really see anything but the swim and finish line. It's tough to get out on the bike and run course to spectate. The race shirts were really cool and so were the water bottles."

"This race is set up a little different than normal triathlons. Transition 2 is in a different area than transition 1. You put your shoes in a garbage bag and the company carts them off for you. When you are finished with the bike, a volunteer takes the bike and another volunteer gives you the garbage bag of your running gear. It's different. It made transition faster; however, waiting for your bikes to come back and your garbage bags took a long time and there was no order to it. They just placed the bikes all randomly on the racks, so finding your bike was a lot of work. I hope nothing was stolen.
The run is mostly a trail run through the desert and gorgeous. It was one of my favorite runs in a triathlon. Very fun, nice view of the desert.
Just a pain to wait for your bike and gear at the end. All those garbage bags to sort through and try to find the one that belongs to you. Definitely not something I've done before.
Fairly challenging bike course, but it's short. "
