"Boulder is a real pure triathlon for those who likes nature, tough effort and XXXL size triathlon .I just want to advice those who training and sleeping on zero altitude/ you MUST provide a specific training to enjoy this race , over than ur race time , pleasure and security .
i experience a second boulder tri ( first in 2007) after one week on altitude in colorado ( frisco/ 9000 f ) and made a bad choice on be RELAX ( in holidays ) during 7 days before the race . Wathever the swimming is nice in a flat condition , no agressivity in water by good swimmer , global behavior of triathlete is perfect.THE bike is fast and hard, the climb is short but painfull and there is a few time to enjoy the AWSOME landscape ( as i live in front sea in france , i do like mountains ) but the rest of bike is nearly easy , if u have the POWER, u can put the big pedal. The run is flat on dirty road around reservoir, u are able to cross those who finished before, i know triathlets love laps...the finish is magic, neck frozen by a cool towel, u can see ur race time very quickly, food is good and this year the t shirt is awsome.
this a french advice about Boulder
thanks crew...u all did a very good job"

"Tough race! I live in CO, but this race kicks my butt, not just because of the elevation. Swim is fine, just very hard to spot buoys for first section; very bright sun.
Bike is the killer. First 10 miles slowly go uphill, with the major climbing starting a little over 5 miles in on Lee Hill rd/Old Stage. Have to experience it for yourself to truly understand.
Run is fine, just HOT, no tree cover. Goes partially around Boulder Rez on gravel/trail.
Good post race food, as always with 5430 events. Would race again!
One of the best things is they switch wave order yearly. I was towards the end last year, but wave 2 this year. Makes it fair so the same people aren't always first.
Fun to watch pro race, as it starts after amateur race; and you know there is talent in Boulder!!"
