"10 miler -
This is a small nice race down the shore. The weather for late March always seems to be cold and windy and running along the bay and shore, and on the boardwalk, makes the wind even more brutal.
The expo is very small, held on Saturday. One of the big perks is the nice long sleeve race shirt - it is the same each year in different colors. This year was red. Included the race packet were a few small things and for sale at the expo were gus and bars and apparel.
The race starts in Cape May in front of Uncle Bill\'s pancake house, right along the beach. About 15 port-a-potties were set up with a quick moving line. Coffee and tea were available at the start. There is a clock for mile 1 and mile markers for the remainder of the miles. There were water stops around miles 2.5, 4.5, 6.5 and 8. Most of the race is on the streets down the shore, over 2 bridges and onto the boardwalk in Wildwood. Some people come out to cheer, but mostly you are on your own for motivation. The finish is through a set of cones, and you will be provided with water, bananas, oranges and bagels.
It is a good race where your family can come up and see you start and finish.
One disadvantage - there is no chip, so getting to the start line and trying to start at the gun can be a real push. It feels like a nice small town race though and the atmosphere is good. There were definitely good looking policemen along the route, but maybe not enough of them? I didn't see any photographers this year.
The website says the results will be posted by the end of the day on the raceday, but there are none to be seen one day later.
