"This was a beautiful course. Once I didn't drown in the swim, it got a lot better. The water temperature was great. I particularly liked the run. It was along the shore of the lake on a dirt road. "

"The Echo course is beautiful and perfect for a solid Race. Echo Reservoir was the perfect temperature. Cool, but not so cold that it takes your breathe away, and not so warm that you're uncomfortable at the end. Olympic did 2 loops of the course. Sun was a bit rough on the final leg towards the shore, and the course seemed long, but other than that it was great.
The bike starts with 4 miles of flat and downhill to warm you up, and then heads up the canyon. It's not way steep, but you do head uphill all the way to the turn around. Coming back down is great, and while you share the road with the sprint distance athletes for the last part, traffic is minimal so you can use the whole road.
The run is along side the water, so flat for the most part. It's an out and back and there is an aid station every mile.
The finish was phenomenal, huge crowds, your name gets announcements and plenty of refreshments after the race.
The event is incredibly well organized, and my only complaints were the dirt transition area - mix it with water from the swim and you leave on the bike with muddy legs. And then the entry to T2 got a little congested with some of the sprint athletes."
