"I decided to run this about 2 weeks beforehand. The group that puts it on does a wonderful job with all their other races, and this was no different. First note: day of race packet pick up DOES NOT close, as I thought (and I think the email said) it did. So I rushed myself a bit to get there in time, but didn't really need to.
I think there were around 3500 people in this year's race. The start of the race is in a not-fully-developed McMansion development. So there was plenty of room for everyone to get started.
As the race started, the road was mainly a 2 lane road. There were many stretches where faster runners were passing in the grass and on ther berm. At times it was a bit tricky to pass.
When the race made it to the park, the first hundred yards or so was just as crowded as the road. Then the pack began to thin a bit. There were a handful of strollers crowding the way, but they stayed to the side.
The run through the park and back to the road was very nice. Great views for Thanksgiving Day morning.
The race ended right where it started, making it easy to get back to the car. Best/strangest part? The rep from Muscle Milk who was passing out bottles and said (no lie) "thanks for not being fat." Not sure what that meant.
Details: Only 1 aid station that I remember. Could have used another. Cool schwag? Let's see...long sleve tech shirt, medal and a bottle of wine. So yeah, cool schwag. Not really an expo, but pre-race packet pickup was at a local running store. Race is spectator friendly, but there weren't many. I'm willing to chalk that up to the fact that it was raining. Plenty of parking."
