"I love this race and have done it numerous years. This race consistantly brings out the best sprint talent in New England. If you want to find out how you stack up - race the Timberman Sprint.
The first time I did this race (I have raced here at least 6 times) and saw the cool awards I vowed I would come back win one. They have these glass containers filled with maple syrup and the front is etched with the Timberman race logo and your place. Depending on how you place - you get more stuff. I had the race of my life last year and finished 2nd Overall Women to Cait Snow. I won $200, a Timex watch and a fuel belt - pretty awesome for going 100% for a little over an hour !!!
The race director Keith Jordan puts on an absolutely first class event. Everything is SUPER organized and he throws in a lot of extras like entertainment for the kids, lots of post race food, breakfast for spectators, shuttles to the race, etc
The swim course can be challenging if it is windy - there are plenty of waves so getting open water is easy. Having wetsuit strippers in the sprint is an absolute luxury !!!
The bike course can be tough on the way out with a few rollers and one longish climb - the ride back is awesome because you go down what you just came up and you can now see where your competition is. Course is well marked and well staffed with police and volunteers. You would have to be a moron to get lost in one of Keith Jordan's races.
The run is an out and back. There is a slight uphill on the way out but once you hit the turnaround you can fly on your way back. "

"I'm a bit biased on this one because I had my best age group placement ;-) But, besides that, Endorfun does a great job with this race as part of the larger Timberman Triathlon Festival.
The swim/transition is at Ellacoya State Park in a very open section of Lake Winnipesaukee. As a result, the chop can be high if you catch it on a windy day.
The bike is an out and back on decent roads with some rollers and one decent climb going out which makes for a screaming ride on the way back. It's a mix of state highways with wide shoulders and some quiet town roads but traffic control has always been very good.
The run is an out and back along the banks of the Lake and consists of a false flat on the way up and a nice quick run on the way back. This is a very well attended race and the long finishing chute makes for a great way to end a race.
The New Hampshire Lakes region is a great place to be in late August. I highly recommend this one. Don't miss the beear and Jordan's ice cream at the finish. Great combo!
