1 Reviews for New Years Duathlon

"This was just a great race and an awesome way to start the new year - just make sure you're not too hung over from the night before. i think i had just enough to drink but not too much to regret it in the morning!
three of us drove up from san francisco in the morning for the race, start time was late enough you could do this and you could check in and register day of - always a plus.
we got there super late due to a dog walking issue with one of are carpool-mates, and drove in as they annouced 5 minutes until race start. oh shit!
check in went smooth and i had just enough time to throw my bike on a rack and change out of my sweats before i hear - 1 minute until race start. jesus!
got in line and relaxed for the 1 minute then we were off!
this was my first duathlon and the 2 mile run was different than in a tri. I did ok and got on the bike. be careful on the bike course - its sandy and curvy. there were some wipeouts and i had a close call (REALLY close) but pulled out of it. its the same bike course as the IceBreaker Sprint Tri they put on. The 2 mile run again (same course as first run) was awesome and faster after being warmed up. If you've done the IceBreaker Tri its the same run course, MINUS the awful horrible hilly part (Icebreaker is 4 miles). On single track trails, but not hella hilly.
Overall, short and sweet. Pretty chilly, but do-able for 1 hour out there. Also had HOT food and lots of it at the finish!!!"
