"Slightly hilly (for someone from the SF/Bay Area) trail half marathon on mostly single track mountain bike trails. 2 loops plus 1 loop around the start area. Got lost on the first loop. By the time I came around for the second loop there was someone standing in the spot where I had made a wrong turn. Winner is supposed to get a free race voucher. I was in first at the time of getting lost. Since I had cut the course short, I didn\'t win and told the race directors. The race director was SO nice and apologetic and gave me a free race voucher to compensate. That was completely unnecessary, as it was partly my fault. I should\'ve just stopped and read the sign that said go left and then I would not have gotten lost. It was very cool of them to comp me a race. The race director and her family are very nice, approachable and were obviously looking to please the race participants.
Best part of the race - the post race raffle of prizes. Virtually everyone willing to stuck around for a little bit after the race got a cool bag with stuff - I ended up with good winter running gloves and some great running socks (ones that separate the toes - excited to check them out). SCARsports puts on several trail runs and I plan on checking more of them out. "
