"This was my first year actually running this race. I was a little disappointed in the cave, being that it was more like an underground parking lot instead of cave like. Because of this the total cool factor of the race was less than I expected, but it is still totally awesome that it is underground and the temps were around 65 degrees when it was a whopping 19 degrees outside. This being said we got to wear our summer running gear which is totally cool. The actual race was well organized and the people were great. You have every type of runner from super fast elite to your family walkers. The sheer number of people made it a bit of a pain to start; you know the deal big race means big wait time to actually get to the start and then the shuffle to get around the people you want to pass. After about ¼ of a mile this was a non issue as the crows thinned out. There were 3 water stops on this course which is a lot for a 5k.
Over all I would say that there is not much to see on this race, definitely not as cool as I thought it would be. I will however run it again every year for the simple fact that it is warm and it falls on or around my birthday, which makes this my annual birthday run from now on.
