"Small (non-existent) expo; nice urban and scenic course, but very few spectators, even at the finish. Very hilly. Not recommended for beginning half runners. Good aid stations, but no gels or food along the course."

"I ran the half marathon along with 2400 folks on June 6, 2009. Although it is a hilly course (duh!), it follows a great route in Kansas City with much to view during the race. (Appropriately, after about 3 miles in and up a hill you run by Our Lady of Sorrows church and near the end is Our Lady of Perpetual Help.) The course inlcudes not only hospitals and churches but parks, the fountains for which KC is famous, the Plaza, the University of Missouri, the art museum, memorial parks, and beautiful neighborhoods. The weather this year was cool and without rain at the start, although a light shower hit the area about two and half hours from the start of the half. The race was very well organized and the medal, shirt, etc were quite nice for the half. Although there was no expo to speak of (other than the race's own merchandise for sale, the only vendor I saw was Saucony selling socks), the packet did include a discount for a wonderful pasta buffet at Milano's in the Crown Center. The Hyatt was the official hotel and just a block from the start at the Crown Center. Volunteer support was more than adequate and they and the police did a fine job holding Saturday traffic at bay. I plan on running this race again and would encourage anyone to join the 5000 overall participants in the 5k, 10k and half. "

"I LOVE this race! It is the second time I have ran the HH 5K and I plan to do it again. It is very hilly, but I like the challenge and the hills make for an intersting course. Since what goes up must come down, it is nice that the last 1/2 mile is downhill to make for a fast finish! "

"Very hilly course and that is what was interesting about it. I wish that I was in better shape for this specific race, but next year will be a better experience."
