"Nice cold water swim (wetsuits definitely required - someone got pulled out with hypothermia!). The lake sits north/south so there was a blazing 7 am sunrise in your face throughout the swim course, which was good for encouraging alternate breathing :) The bike course was neat, but pavement quality was POOR and really slowed things down. A long steady climb in the middle of the course (about 6 miles and 700 feet or so) was enough to slow thing down more than the decent could compensate. A real neat ride out along a plateau with a lake to either side. The run was mainly flat to downhill for the first half, then a slight steady climb back to the finish. A really fast group of racers this year (my time almost beat last year's winner and I finished 13th). "

"This is a great race! Very well organized! I plan on returning next year, and would definitely recommend the race to anyone.
Perks: free chiropractic treatments afterward, the race location lends itself to a nice vacation, beautiful race scenery, a variety of race options (olympic distance, sprint distance, duathlon, kids tri, relays).
My only two complaints for the race were the quality of the roads for the bike, and the lack of an post-race plethora of delicious treats. The roads have a lot of cracks and bumps, and the patch jobs that have been performed seem to have done more harm than good since last year. Also, there is food available, but it's in the campus cafeteria (race located on Keuka College campus), and the quality of the food is, well, cafeteria food. Also, it's only available to participants, unless your loyal spectators want to shell out 10 bucks for cafeteria food. This year we just brought our own food, and had a picnic afterward.
