"This is a course for hill lovers. Nearly the entire first half is up hill. I had no problems with the course itself, but the way it was managed has much to be desired.
There were plenty of water stations, all of them under staffed.
No sports gel on the course.
Mile 2 of the course is lined with large apartment complexes that needed to have their driveways monitored. People kept trying to drive through the crowds of runners to get into or out of the parking lots.
Between mile 8 & 9 a cop stopped the runners for nearly a minute to allow traffic to pass.
The organizers lost my registration. I’d paid with cash in a store (maybe I shouldn’t do that any more?). Kudos to the organizers on this one: they did not give me any grief, just typed my name in the system, gave me a number and timing chip and sent me on my way.
The race organizers ran out of all the men’s tech shirts except for small (I’m not small). They did offer me a cotton shirt from the 5K, but why would I want that?
There was no medal. For a $65 race put on by a private company I expect a finishers medal (there is a charity now attached, but this is definitely a for profit run).
The amenities at the finish line were very good. Plenty of bottled water & lots of fresh fruit from sponsor PCC Natural Markets.
Will I do it again? Yes. It is the town I grew up in & I still like to run there.
