"The LA Cancer Challenge is hosted by the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. When you sign up, you have the option to fundraise on behalf of the organization but it is not required.
A cool option this race has is a VIP priority parking option. If you pay extra, you can get express packet pick up and closer parking to the event.
The event takes place at VA grounds in West LA. It's nice because it's a self contained area so you don't have to worry to much about cars driving through. This is a fun "Halloween" race because of the costume competition with prizes for all.
This is a chip timed raced. The course has some hills, but nothing too difficult. For the 10K, it is 2 loops around.
The expo is going on before and after the race. There are several different vendors who are all giving away great freebies & samples. The goody bag for the runners is amazing. We got an UnderArmour tech tee with the event logo on the back as well as an underarmour water bottle. There were also lots of sample there.
A pancake breakfast takes place afterwards with a band. Pancreatic cancer survivors share their stories as well.
I ran this event as part of the Girls Gotta Move running team from Health.com. They gave us a free singlet and an extra goody bag.
This event is very well-organized and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
