1 Reviews for Nike Run Hit Remix

"The Nike Run Hit Remix was my first race EVER. At the time, the mere thought of running for more than half a mile scared the living daylights out of me... Despite that, I was coerced into doing the run by my cousin who did it the year before and said it was a *ton* of fun. Not to mention that I am a lover of almost all things Nike... and they can do up an event to the nines!
Pre-race: There aren't too many other sponsors involved in Nike races so the best schwag that you can expect is a discount at Nike-town and a t-shirt (the shirts are always cool though!)
The course was *awesome* it started off at the LA Memorial coliseum out through Figueroa, and looped back into a grand finish through the tunnel of the Coliseum (so you can feel like an old school Olympian). The course was packed with pit stops featuring old school popular hip-hop acts including Naughty by Nature, one of the girls from En Vogue and Sir Mix A Lot (yes, he sang Baby Got Back!) The big finale concert in the coliseum was by none other than MC Hammer.
There were plenty of water stations at every mile marker and lots of volunteers and fans to cheer the runners on. At the end, runners were given free yogurt, chips, bananas, granola and beer (if you were so inclined and of legal age) and of course, more water.
I would recommend this race (if Nike ends up bringing it back) as a great "starter" race. Despite the fact that it was a 5 mile course most people were walking, jogging and stopping to jam to at least 2-3 songs per performing act along the course. Participants were all very supportive and really just having a good time and getting their run on.
I am fairly certain we ended up finishing the whole thing at a mind-boggling hour and a half time. The year after Nike replaced the Run Hit Remix with the Human Race (which became a virtual race in 2009). Hopefully they bring back another iteration of Run Hit Remix because I would definitely do it again.
If you want proof of all the fun, check out a video I recorded during the race (complete with interview of random fellow runner): - Nike Run http://bit.ly/EApU7
