"This relay is only for the running insane. If you end up being a team captain, be warned because the logistics are crazy. I was co-captain (more like assistant captain) for Team Sugitorias and the logistics and team recruiting was 4 months intense. Our team roster went through about 20 people for a 12 person team and the last minute we had two people drop out due to injury.
The experience however was character building and fun as hell. So much so that I'm doing the ultra relay for Vegas (can't wait) with half of the team. Ragnar is by far my favorite non-traditional race and the organization was executed impressively well considering the 200 mile course and the open road course itself. The staff did a great job at enforcing the safety rules and although the "race bible" was a tough read, the directions on race day were clear and succinct.
I'm definitely doing SoCal again next year. My legs were especially fun (2am run through Marina Del Rey from Venice). "
