"I really enjoyed this race as it is one of the few sprint distance triathlons that has some hills! The entire race is on campus so you dont have to deal with cars and it is a great race for beginners as there is a pool swim ( no wetsuit involved).
Pros: Great bike course. Friendly fans.
Cons: it was a bit strange having everyone start 5 seconds apart in the pool. I didn't like not being able to tell who was in front of me or behind me. There were also not many people around me as I did the course as we were staggered.
Once I finished the race I went to cheer on runners still coming in, and I noticed that a few of them were running completely barefoot. I had just finished the book 'born to run' and thought that maybe they had embraced the barefoot vibe. However when I congratulated them on the barefoot choice, they didn't seem so happy. They had actually left their shoes at T1 and since this race had two different transitions they had to run barefoot. Regardless, it looked pretty hard core."
