4 Reviews for ING Miami Marathon

"If someone asked me what would be a good first race...I would DEFINITELY suggest this course. It twists and turns enough to keep it interesting, it's flat with only a couple bumps to make you feel like you mixed it up, and extremely well organized. The majority of the course is shaded and it was very well supported.
The best part of the race is the international crowd. Though hear an array of languages, everyone has the same goal of having fun. "

"The ING Miami Marathon was an awesome event. I did the Half Marathon and I would definitely go do the race again if i get the chance.
Pros:
- Course: The course was beautiful. I only did the half marathon so I only got to see the first half of the course. But the first half takes you to alot of places where you will definitely enjoy the scenery - downtown Miami, the harbor, south beach, golf courses, local residential areas. All were beautiful!
- Organization: The EXPO was really well organized. No long lines, I was in and out quickly.
- Drinks: There were plenty of water and gatorade and gel stations spread throughout.
- Finesher's Medal: Wow!
Cons:
- After race area - was heavily congested. When i finished the race, there was heavy congestion just trying to get out of the finish line area and into the party area for drinks/food and a place to just rest
The only other thing I would comment about was the weather. It was great weather for a vacation, and I know that you cant really control the weather. But I just want to warn people who wants to run the race, its very humid!!!! So make sure you bring a water belt or make sure you stop for drinks often."

"I agree with the first reviewer! The first half is great but the last is boring and not a lot of people to cheer you on! All in all it's a great race because of the organization! And, it's special because it's in my home town!"

"The full marathon is well organized but the course is not as good as the 1/2 marathon. The first half of the race goes through South Beach and along the Bay. The second half winds through neighborhoods and is boring with sparse spectators. There's a bridge near the end that is a killer! Funny how such a relatively small hill can be such a monster.
They do a great job with organization, parking, facilities, etc. "
