"Awesome race! The WARP team who put this on, have the goal to turn the race into an event for the whole family, and I think they achieved that. My kids did the kids race on Friday, and I had mine on Saturday. We also camped out at the venue which added to the atmosphere and minimized the logistics we would have to figure out.
The swim is in Deer Creek reservoir, which was cold, but wetsuits are required, and after the first turn, it's almost refreshing.
The bike is a 22 mile course through Midway and parts of Heber city. It's fast, well marked and the traffic is very well controlled.
The run is through Soldier Hollow - venue for the cross country events of the 2002 Winter Olympics - It makes a great summer venue too. The run offers beautiful scenery and it is fun today, but there are lots of hills to climb and descend.
I pushed really hard on the bike, and from my perspective the run was BRUTAL - but that said, I would have signed up for next year, at the finish line if I could.
There is also a trail run, an off-road duathlon and the doggy-du - a duathlon you can do with your dog. If you do BAM, the trail run and the Duathlon, you can qualify as a BAM BadAss!!
Great weekend, great organization, the only negative was some unseasonable rain and thunderstorms which have been in the area for the last week or two and forced the cancellation of 1 event."
