"So it was cold...I mean really cold. In the finishing picture I look like a black bear waddling along. But! The start up area is indoors and what a way to start the new year. With local elites and amateur die-hards, this first of a year long series of Team Ortho events earns you an extra glass of hot chocolate or champagne at 1st of the year brunch.
Watch out for the short but steep incline into the final stretch on the out and back course along the river road. Some rolling hill action keeps it interesting and there is plenty of space for spectators. Tell your friends to wake up and cheer you on!
Team Ortho is known for their nice schwag which is a bonus for 5Ks that can seem a little spendy. They are usually well attended races too, and the Polar Dash was no exception. Plan to arrive earlier than later for bib numbers if you can't pick them up in advance.
Oh, best part, shhh, meters in downtown on New Year's Day are free."
