"This is a fantastic race. The weather was extremely cooperative this year - we had a great day all in all. The wind in the canyon was even pretty decent this year all things considered. I do think it might be time for this race to consider timing chips - although not a huge issue, there were some organizer stated problems with groups of people leaving transition and some of them being missed. The other main issue with this race, is like just a personal issue for me as I have no idea how you would control this other than through time penalties - People don't obey passing rules during the swim. So aggravating...this is a pool swim, with four to a lane. I'd seen it happen to friends last year and this year, it happened to me. I got stuck in a lane where two of the four people just simply wouldn't stop at the wall after a toe tap. I finally swam over the top of one of them. Not that there aren't issues with open water as well but come on people...
I hadn't trained properly for this race and had really slacked off for about 3 weeks before the race - like as in practically did nothing. (Although I did have some fantastic things going on otherwise that prevented my training) However, I still somehow managed to better my time from the year before by a little bit. I was hoping for a big drop but hey, I'll take a small improvement too."
