"This was my favorite triathlon of the 2009 season! Overall, this race was well organized and put together. There was the option of picking up your race packet the day before, which I like to be able to do. One less thing to do on race morning. It also gives me a chance to get a preview of the water entry/exit and transition area entry/exit. The atmosphere the morning of the race was very relaxed. A lot of times, the organizers are running around finishing up last minute details, which can add to the anxiety of the racers. This didn\'t happen here (well at least if it did, it didn\'t show). The race started on time, and the ordering of the start times for the different race distances worked out really well. The course is one of my all time favorites. I head out to Ocean Shores at least twice a month during the spring/summer to ride that bike course. A flat and fast smooth road, with a bike lane for a majority of the route. You will need to watch out for deer on this route. Yes, I said deer. There are A LOT of deer in Ocean Shores, and they aren\'t afraid to just stroll out into the road right in front of you while your pedalling at 19 mph. Imagine telling your friends you T-boned a deer and crashed your bike. You think they would believe you? :)
The post race food was great. Results were posted REALLY fast, and the awards were great. Oh and the T-shirt was really nice too.
Probably the only negative that I could see with this race was the bathroom situation. The race was at a city park, but the city park bathrooms were locked, and there was only one port-a-poty. This seemed to have been adequate with the number of people in attendance, but any more, and there would have been a problem.
I definitely intend to compete in this event in 2010, and would definitely reccomend this event for a first time triathlete. If there were two events here each year, I\'d compete in both! "
