1 Reviews for Palo Alto Weekly Moonlight Run

"This was a thrilling, scenic nighttime race (a first for me). It's really family friendly partly due to the 5K run and walk occurring around the same time. About 2/3 of the 10K course is along the Palo Alto Baylands trails, which are wide dirt and relatively smooth, but pitch dark except for the brilliant moonlight sparkling off the bay and marshes. As beautiful as the darkness is, I would definitely recommend running with a headlamp/flashlight, especially if you're going to be in the very front or back where there are less people around. You can always turn it off the enjoy the view, and turn it on when the footing gets a little bumpy. All the glowsticks and bobbing lights were a neat sight, particularly along the trail when it gets quiet. Weather was perfect, calm and a refreshingly cool. The race announcer's loudspeaker wasn't working at the startline, so instructions/announcements/countdown were hard to hear, but otherwise volunteers, check-in, and post-race were all very smooth (plus nice treats). Note, the portapots were pretty crowded, and be sure to carpool. Also it wasn't clear where the mile-markers were, so that could be improved. "
