"Even though this was hilly for this Chicago area girl, this was a spectacular even. Steve-the organizer was amazing and super helpful. It was pretty small but I would highly recommend that any and everyone do this race. He thought of everything from COLD water at the water stations to wet washclothes to help cool you down. The awards were made by local artists and actually useful. No cheap little medals that you'll never use again. As you crossed the finish line, you were handed a commemorative water bottle again with ice cold water. The post race food was awesome and every volunteer was super nice and helpful. If you have children, this is a great place for them to watch a race. The state park was gorgeous and the pioneer village was really awesome! Do yourself a favor and do this race!"
