4 Reviews for Blue Cross Broad Street Run

"This year was the biggest crowd for the Broad Street Run - I thought they did a nice job organizing, especially with the weather forecast for hot weather. Water stations were stocked, fans were good and reassuring/motivating.
I didn't see many medical tents. The shirts this year were a poor design - I would never wear them. I didn't see any photographers along the course and there were no photos of me. The finish line was the worst of all - everyone was hot and thirsty. There was no water to be found. A young woman passed out at the finish and there was no one there to help her. It was chaotic and needs to be improved. I remember it was like this last year too."

"This is a great race - even for beginners! It starts in the center of the city where there is water provided, there are port-a-potties, and places to stretch. Last year was the first year that corrals were initiated. I was in an earlier corral and thought it was great, though I heard from people in later corrals that it was a long wait. For most of the race, there are fans lining the streets, and cheerleading groups and bands every so often. The race goes straight down Broad Street, around City Hall and finishes past the stadium complex in the naval yard. It is a fast, flat course with participants of all levels and ages.
At each mile marker, there is a big sign and a time clock. Runners wear chips to record time. The race is organized well, there are plenty of water stations, and it is a hometown favorite. Every 5 years (2009 was the last one) medals are given out for the anniversary.
Post race there are big tents with food and drinks. There are also tents set up for massages and a large area to stretch. It took a while to get from the finish line to the tents and field - hopefully they will work on this for 2010.
The race t-shirt is cotton - nothing intense, but it is cool to collect each year."

"Love this race. Have raced it the last five years with my family and will race it again in 2010. Flat, very fast course with interesting stuff to see along the way and nice treats to distract you like bands. Plenty of water/Gatorade stations and with the introduction of starting corrals this past year, the race start is MUCH smoother. Highly recommended!"

"This is by far one of my favorite races; including local and non-local. It's an awesome tour of the city of Philadelphia and the crowd is always, always amazing & every few miles you hear the Rocky theme blasting for a set of speakers.
I will admit that this year was a lesss organized then in past years but I blame this on the fact that more people signed up then anticipated. My biggest complaint is that there were not enough portapotties. I waited on line for over a 1/2 hour but had to eventually line up in my corral without being able to use the PP. I had a full bladder the entire run!"
