"Factors for making this race 4 stars for me - among other things: price, proximity, run on a trail, decent water temp in calm lake and mellow feel to a sometimes overly intense sport.

I did this race two years ago when I just starting out in Triathlons. Now, after having done many \\\'bigger\\\' races with more production and hype (and therefore more nerves), I really enjoyed this local sprint.

GREAT for first timers and those who want a reminder of why we love this sport. Like I said, very mellow feel. They even give a pre-race talk to those doing their first triathlon and tri-newbies.

Bike portion is \\\'draft\\\' discouraged, but legal.

Run is loops on dirt track.

Age group awards 3 deep. Small race so chance of placing increases. Race announcer was very good.
