"The course is beautiful…all of it is under a canopy of old-growth redwoods. It’s run on asphalt pavement, although you can run along the road in the soft redwood duff in most places. The marathon is a double out and back with the first leg mostly flat and the second leg climbs about 175 feet before coming back to the finish. The men’s record is about 2:22 (although the record for this course, set at the Spring time version of this race, is 2:17) . The woman’s record is 2:46. The Half is flat and you’ll need to run a 1:05 to set a record. It’s a small race (maybe 700 starters for all three races) with plenty of space to run right from the start. The weather is usually perfect…high 40’s at the start and little or no wind."
