"This is my favorite Sprint Tri in Richmond, VA. Laurie and the RMS crew does a GREAT job organizing this race!!!
The race starts with a 300 meter snake swim in a pool. The 20k bike course is mostly flat with just a few rollers and one or two small climbs. The 5k run is an out and back with some ups and downs, but is fast. I almost broke 1 hour this year and was 20th overall and 4th in my age group. I like the pool swim sprint tri's because they are really like a time trial due to the stagered start.
This is also a GREAT event for first time triathletes and has great course support and a nice post race party."

"This was my first Tri and what an experience. I have to second what others have said, Laurie did a great job of organizing this and getting it going. The Volunteers and Police did great job of keeping us directed and hydrated. I also have to give credit to the officials especially one very pleasent young lady. I had about a thousand Newbie questions and she answered every one of them patiently with out snickering at me.
I will be doing this race again next year and I strongly recommend it to all first timers. The swim is a pool snake in a great facility. 300 yard run to T1 (carpeted).
The Bike section was a crazy eight and pretty flat with very gentle hills. Police and volunteers at every intersection did a great job of cheering us on. The scenery was incredible.
The run was an out and back inverted L. It was mostly shaded.
The food after was great and the awards were done under the pavillion and went very quickly and smoothly.
Race results were posted before the awards ceremony was over.
All in all it was a very good first time event for me"

"Laurie and the Multisports team did a great job organizing this event. This was my first triathlon and it was a fantastic experience. I am excited to do my next one and can not wait until next year.
The volunteers were great, the course was well marked and the post race food/drink were perfect.
There was a lot of traffic on Ashland Road during the bike (trucks, motorcycles, etc.) that were driving excessive speeds. Not sure if there is any way to monitor that, but at times is seemed a bit unsafe.
Only other suggestion is that there needs to be more portable toilets near the back of the YMCA at the start of the swim. There was only 1 and the line was long during the wait for the start. "

"1st Tri so I didn't know what to expect. Had a great time, and Richmond Multisports did a great job of putting on the event."
