4 Reviews for SunTrust Richmond Marathon

"The course is great. Decently flat with a few hills thrown in. The crowd support is OK in most spots and the party zones are great. The half marathon goes through Joseph Bryan Park which adds a nice touch to just running on the roads.
The finish is a great downhill run for about 70 yards. I would certainly run this one again.
There was a water and Powerade problem around mile 4 where they weren't quite prepared but other than that the volunteers were great and support was good. The junk food stop and beer stop were neat to see."

"Lives up to its billing as FRIENDLIEST MARATHON IN THE COUNTRY. You get all the support of a big city marathon without the 40000 runners, field for the marathon was just under 5000.
The course is great, see all of Richmond, the old Capital of the South, has hills but also plenty of flat areas and a finish that is all down hill, drops 70 feet.
Unique items are wash cloth stations at mile 17 and 19,Junk food stops, with pretzels, cookies, gummy bears, and coke.
I HIGHLY recommend this marathon."

"Richmond has come to be known as the "Friendliest" Marathon which is definitely true! There were multiple instances of spectators that brought food and in one instance beer out to the course to offer to runners! The race also offers gummy bears at some points and also towels right before the end to look "pretty" for your photo op! The course is basically flat which is beneficial for the distance. There are always low points in marathons, but when you hit mile 20 in Richmond, you can see downtown and you know you can make it to the finish. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a fun, flat marathon experience. The weather can be iffy this time of year, but its a great race to go for!"

"Richmond is a phenomenal marathon. The course is very enjoyable, the fans are excellent, and the organization is wonderful. 2008 was a strange weather year, and times were off for many people. Although I didn't hit my time goal of 3:10 this day, I had a wonderful time and would recommend this marathon to anyone!"
