"The course is run along the American River on a asphalt path. It's flat except for a few underpasses.
Getting to the race was difficult just because of the location. Try fitting hundreds of cars into a neighborhood with one entrance. The race director seemed to understand and help up the race start a few extra minutes to get as many people to the starting line as possible. It's a small race, no real elite field.
At the end you get a lunch instead of the normal bagels, bananas, etc. They served subway sandwiches, fresh strawberries, CostCo chocolate cookies and choice of a electrolyte beverage. I have to say.. as cool as that was, the last thing I wanted after the race was a meal. There was a free massage tent that was really nice.
It's a cheap race (only cost me $36) and they give you a nice tech shirt. The race uses water bottles that biodegrade within 90 days. It's a very eco-friendly event and it benefits the American River Parkway."

"A great, flat and fast race - good for setting a PR. The race had a 'green' theme and was very environmentally friendly. The parkway course is scenic but the start line can be a little crowded."
