"I first ran this race in 2010 and it has only gotten better. They changed the course a bit this year adding a run through the Capitol Mall and Old Sacramento. While the old course was great, I think the new course is even better and I hope they keep the same course in the future. I have to say that this has become one of my favorite races in California and I have done a lot of half marathons. I ran with a friend this year and she enjoyed the race too and also said she would continue to run it again. Course is scenic, weather is outstanding, great organization. This race deserves attention, but not so much that it becomes too popular with a limited field ;-). My plan is keep running the Urban Cow year after year. I can't imagine getting tired of it. Bonus perk is the official cowbell finishers medal which can be used when watching your kids soccer games or other sporting events!!!"

"PROS:
-EVERYTHING...
-Great GREAT technical finisher shirt
-COWBELL medal
-Fan spirit! Some people dressed in cow attire...Mooooo
-A GORGEOUS course through some beautiful neighborhoods in Sacramento, and then along the river. I pretty much wanted to stop running and go slower to enjoy the scenery!
-GREAT post-race expo/refreshments/food. Chocolate milk!
CONS:
-??? I can't think of any!
Overall (1-10): 10!
~My goal is not to duplicate any races next year but I might consider doing this one again, I liked it that much!"

"I really enjoyed EVERYTHING about this race. Parking close to the start, relatively small field (about 3000), nice start time, beautiful course along tree-lined streets and then along the river, very flat and fast, great organization, plenty of aid/potty stations, FABULOUS tech shirt and really cute finishers cowbell medal. There wasn't a ton of people out cheering on the runners, but really who needs that for a half marathon anyway. I hooked up with a pace group and ran one of my best half marathons yet. The weather was perfect and the after race party had really great food and music. This was a well-run event. I plan to make it a permanent addition on my race calendar. I hate to give it too much adoration because I wouldn't want it to grow so large that it gets difficult to enter. But - That's ME being selfish! :-).....really give this one a try - you won't be disappointed."
