"A group of 3 of my coworkers and I decided that since we had never been to Texas and wanted to do a half marathon together, what better excuse to make a destination race out of it!
This was my first Rock 'n' Roll race and I can't wait to participate in more. The energy was high and everyone had so much fun. The course was fairly flat so it was a nice race for my first half marathon. A few people on the course were complaining about the "big hill" that was coming up, so I guess training in San Francisco gives an entirely different perspective on what grades constitute "hills"!
So many people had fun t-shirts and groups that they ran with which was entertaining. We were concerned about what to do with our bags (we bought cowboy hats to wear after the race) but it was so well organized and there were trucks that took our bags organized by last name and we picked them up after the finish.
Complimentary MGD 64 and PF Changs at the finish line was also a plus!
Obviously one of the huge perks of a Rock 'n' Roll race is the music along the course. It kept everyone going strong and was a nice way to break it up.
The expo the day before the race had all sorts of cool booths to check out, including lots of great samples (mmm more GU flavors!) The water stops were frequent which was nice and the GU station at mile 12 was perfect."
