The race is a great duathalon for first timers. I have done it two years in a row and I am sure I will be back for another. The race is relatively short and you will be covering about 6 miles. Half of those miles will be on bike and the other running. Make sure the stronger biker rides the first leg. The race starts with a steep grade hill and you will find yourself mostly in low gear slipping on dust and rocks. The obstacles are fun and easy to handle. The start line will be crowded, so prepare to bump into other bikers or see them fall off their bikes. Beware of the hard core racers who will run you down to get ahead of you. You may also see some of them later down the course on the ground with their bikes bent like a taco. I dont mean to scare anyone but just warn them on the crazies on the field. Finally get ready to get down and dirty in the mud pit! Make sure not to wear your best running / biking gear to the event if you plan on going through the dirt. Also a spare change of clothes will help too. There is a hose down area so you can clean yourself, but be prepared for the ice cold water that comes out of the hose.
