5 Reviews for Bay Breeze Half Marathon/10K/5K

"This was my second year running this race. I LOVE Brazen Races, they are extremely well-organized and fun. But this course is hard to do; much of it is on gravel. I wore my trail shoes and still found it tough.
That being said, there were more than enough of well-stocked aid stations, a fun medal for finishers and lots of food and goodies to eat after. "

"This is my 3rd Brazen race. They are always well organized.
In particular, I love the shirts for the Bay Breeze.
Weather was not quite on our side but it's a flat out and back run.
Ran this even though I was/am still sick. Luckily while running, I felt a bit better.
It's always nice to receive a medal for crossing the finish line.
Last year, only 3 of us ran. This year our group grew to 5; general consensus was we'll run this again. "

"My 3rd Brazen Racing event and I was not disappointed. It was a very flat out and back course through the salt marsh. There were several bridge crossing I thought were fun and plenty of room to race without feeling crowded. There was more gravel road than I had anticipated and it was a bit rough on the ankles the last few miles because of the instability. This particular morning was overcast and windy, luckily the rain held off. As another reviewer mentioned, the staging area was easy to find with plenty of parking. I brought my own water so I cannot comment on the aid stations other than they were stocked with awesome volounteers!
One of my favorite aspects of racing with Brazen is the selflessness of the volunteers and of course the free photos posted online after!"

"The course was advertised as flat and fast, which it was (with the except of one slight hill). However, at the race we were told the terrain would start as grass, then turn to road for 3 miles, then dirt for 3 miles, then we head back. It was mostly gravel which was difficult to run on. I was not prepared for it.
The course was also 13.35 - a full quarter mile longer than 13.1.

Despite these 2 things, the race was extremely well organized. It was also a small race - which I loved.
I will definitely do this race again."

"I'm an active.com troll. Part of my new year's resolution was to run more organized runs, why?, not sure really. Honestly, I'm training for the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon, so really my goal should be to run longer distances.
I paid the extra $5 for the tech-t, it's cute.
Course starts at the Marina Park, convenient and easy to find. Course is as described on the website, flat and back.
Half Marathon started at 9 am.
10k started at 9:10 am.
5k started at 9:20 am (I believe).
It was a windy cloudy day, running along the bay, watching the planes come in to land at OAK.
Maybe it was very motivating seeing other walkers with their dogs.
Maybe it was very motivating seeing other runners who weren't part of the run.
Maybe it was very motivating seeing bicyclists.
I'll be back in 2011. "
