4 Reviews for Summer Breeze Half Marathon/10K/5K

"This race was put on by Brazen Racing, who puts on excellent, affordably prices races. While this was my first time running this event, they put on a winter race at the exact location/course that I've run before.
I originally registered for the half-marathon, but due to some nagging injuries, I down-graded to the 10K the morning of the race. There was no problems at all to do this. The team managing the bibs/timing chips (you pick these things up the morning of the race) was more than helpful to help me downgrade.
Although it was in August, it was COLD, COLD day, aka perfect summer running weather. It was an out and back course, that had some paved road, but is mostly gravel. It also starts and ends on grass.
Brazen medals are always fun, and the one for this race was a bright sun! :)
After the race, they serve breakfast and have lots of snacks and goodies.
Brazen Racing events have a "family-like" feel, oh and they also have free photos. Local photographers come out and take photos. You just need to comb through several Picasa albums to find them, so wear bright clothes.
If you are in the Bay Area, I highly recommend any Brazen racing event. You won't be disappointed."

"Pros:
-Decently priced
-NICE MEDAL (for ALL participants, not just Half Marathoners!)
-GREAT post-race refreshments (Cinnamon buns = YUM!), bagels, bananas, and the usual goodies
-Nice goody bag full of...Um, goodies!
-Decent shirt (Cotton, but for a small amount more you can order a technical shirt, which I would have done in retrospect)
Cons:
-The weather! (Not the Race Director's fault of course) - They didn't name this Summer BREEZE for nothing! That headwind was insane!
Overall (1-10): 7"

"While I didn't like the wind so much, the course was perfect for setting a PR - flat and paved! I did manage to shave 4 seconds off for a new PR and placed 2nd in my age group to boot. It doesn't get much better than that. :) Brazen puts on awesome events. "

"This was my 1st half marathon. Having run the Bay Breeze, I knew the course would be flat and out.
My biggest mistake, not eating prior to the race. The aid stations were my stops to chow down on gummi bears. Having had a previous addiction problem to gummi bears, I was never so happy to see gummi bears.
Mother Nature was a bit cruel, it was quite windy on some parts of the course. Typical cloud cover was nice.
The medal is cool. A sun, how appropriate for the Summer Breeze but how not appropriate because we never saw the sun.
I appreciated the bagels, peanut butter, and cookies at the end of the race. Obviously since I didn't eat prior to the race, I needed more than fruit once I crossed the finish.
The trail is asphault up until the 10k turnaround, then it's trail. Not so bad. "
