1 Reviews for Santa Fe to Buffalo Thunder Half Marathon

  (11-26-2011)
"2011 marked the first running of this race, and I believe that the organizers have done everything right the first time. Packet pick-up is at the finish line, which is a casino (fine if you're into that kind of thing, I suppose), and on race morning you have to drive out to the finish and get bused to the start, which is a little awkward but manageable.
I flew in the night before from the east coast, and was a little concerned that I might not be able to acclimatize to the altitude (Santa Fe is at 7,000 feet). The first two miles I huffed and puffed up hill, and I was worried that I might not be able to deal with the thin air. Just after mile 2, we crossed a bridge over the highway, and I looked out and realized that I could almost see the finish line eleven miles away - all down hill. There's something encouraging about that."
