"This is my hometown race. I've run it the past 4 years. This was the first year with new race management. I was worried about that, but they did a good job. The tech t-shirt was pretty boring, a small logo top left side. The finishers medal was very nice as well as the post race food from First Watch.
The first 3 miles of the course is run through a waterfront neighborhood before you head out onto a busy road. One lane is blocked off for runners, while the other lane remained open for cars. You run over the Ringling bridge twice. Beautiful views of the bay. Water stops every couple of miles. Good crowd support around the bridge area and start and finish line, but not really anywhere else.
The official name is no longer "Sarasota Grouper Marathon" They dropped the grouper and the race is now a 5k and Half marathon only."
