5 Reviews for Shamrock Marathon

"Ran the half marathon in 2010 andhad a great time. The race is organized by runners, so they do a great job of setting up water stations, etc. They really listen to feedback (added over a 100 more portable potties from 2009). This is a flat course that goes through VA Beach hotel areas, neighborhoods and part of a navy base. The finish was at the beachfront, lots of energy , big crowds and you get to see the ocean. Never considered having beer and Irish stew at 10am before, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Expo was ok, not the best."

"I am actually reviewing the 8k which is held the day before the 1/2 Marathon and Marathon. This is a great flat course for a fast 8k and is scenic as half of the race is on the boardwalk in VA Beach, VA. For the 2010 edition, the weather was much warmer than years past which made for a very comfortable race. While I used is as a tune-up race, I would certainly recommend this race for anyone looking to run a PR!!!"

"I absolutely loved this race - the course was beautiful (and flat!), the crowds were overhwelming upbeat, the signage was hillarious and overall it was an awesomely well organized race!"

"great race!! Beautiful course through a military base (ZERO traffic) with great views of the ocean and sand dunes. The water/aid stations had themes and some of them were just hysterical. The crowd support was fantastic and the shwag was well worth running for! My only complaint was the weather...while sunny, it was chilly and very windy! I would absolutely run this race again. "

"Very well organized half marathon and made for a great experience as my first half marathon. Flat course for fast times. Great volunteers and race crew. A lot of fans for support with many water stops. Not many turns, but had volunteers wherever needed. Overall, great, fast race and I will be participating again next year."
