"My biggest complaint, which I will not let go, was that the run was not a 5K. I have competed in 10 sprint triathlons and while the swim and bike are not standard, every single one other than this was a 5K run. I don't even know why they added the extra mile. You had to run past the finish line and then go uphill before turning back to the finish.
The race was well put on and great for an inaugural event. My other complaint was how far the finish was from the transition area. It was a long walk back to my stuff and I was exhausted at that point. "

"This was my first sprint triathlon, and I couldn't have picked a better initial event. The course was awesome, giving participants a quick tour of many of the downtown DC tourist highlights.
The swim began with an in-water start and ended with a short run to the transition area. The transition area was well organized and clearly labeled. The bike course was mainly flat and fast with street and highway riding. There was plenty of room for turns and passing. The run was also flat with water stations every mile. The race ended with the capital building behind you as you crossed the finish line. There were plenty of supporters along the way as well as at the finish line.
There were about ~1100 participants in the sprint race. As a first participant, I did not feel overwhelmed by the course or number of participants. The organizers did a great job planning the event. The heats were well spaced and the course was large enough to accommodate all competitors."
