"THERE ARE BATHROOMS GALORE!! Any race where you don't have to stand in line for a bathroom gets 5 stars in my book. The only thing that could make it even better would be if they were real actual super clean bathrooms, but that might be seriously asking for waaaaay too much. You just can not believe how many port-a-potties they've rented for this race. You literally just walk up and use one. I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but really, when do you ever NOT have to stand in a line for a bathroom at a race?
This is a flat course run on the road mainly through neighborhoods. It's not super pretty or anything, but it is really fast b/c it's flat as a pancake. Afterwards they've got tons of post race food: hotdogs, donuts, bananas, granola bars, cookies, and Gatorade and water to drink (but I think just water on the course. I don't usually drink during a 5K so I'm not 100% on that). Age group winners got really cool little artistic glass leaf paper weights. The race shirt is long sleeve cotton w/ a nice design.
There's also a great kids One Mile fun run before the 5K & 10K start. And some of the kids get interviewed for PR purposes. My nephew was one of them and he totally dug that. They also this year had an Arts & Scraps mobile there where the kids could make little Halloween baskets while they were waiting for their moms & dads to finish their races."
