"Was Extremely HOT weather. Very well organized. The swim was enjoyable, although supposedly the distances change every year (this year was an actual half mile-they say last year was shorter). the bike was hot-293 is completely exposed to the sun..it is a rolling course..not really too hilly. the cadets put orange paint on every pothole and the day before were outside in the extreme heat sweeping the road! the run is hilly but shady at least. lots of people participate and many are fast. "This year was the 20th Annual West Point Triathlon. My wife competed in it as I watched in awe as the West Point Triathlon club pulled off a truly outstanding event. Keep in mind that the club consists of cadets at the United States Military Academy, not a group of professional race organizers. They have great support from the Army officers that serve as officers in charge for the team, and from their talented coaches. The event hosted hundreds of triathletes this year (I'm told 700 entries!) and it went off pretty smoothly. All three courses were marked well and were challenging. There are lots of hills in the Hudson Valley!
Please go to www.westpointtri.com to see the full race results and to support the triathlon tea."
