"This race is becoming more and more Wichita's race. It's interesting how an event builds its own personality, and I definitely saw that this year. I imagine that in future years, this will become more and more true.
The race was capped at 250 participants (including tri, du, and team tri), and will probably have to stay that size because of the venue size. It sold out this year, and I would expect that to continue next year.
The organizers definitely learned from last year, and put on a great event. A lot of the kinks got worked out, making this one of the most efficiently run races I've seen locally.
Awards were good--gift certificates to the local run shop for the top 3, and medals for everyone else. There was more schwag in the goody bags this year--Endurolytes and a CarBOOM gel. Race caps and T-shirts were the same this year; guess KSRVTC needs a graphic designer! But both are very attractive. The race shirt is a Mizuno tech shirt; much better than plain old cotton.
And there were hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and cookies after the race for winners, finishers, and spectators alike. All-in-all, a great community race, well-worth the $50 entry fee."
